Take a tour of the Explorer to learn about its features:
Exploring the map view
The map displays North Dallas geographic entities, each color-coded to show their score within the selected economic opportunity metric. The color scale has 5 blocks, each representing a quintile within the scale. The lighter the color, the higher the score.
Viewing different metrics on the map
You can change the metric shown on the map by clicking the DATA CONTROLS button and making selections. You can also use this feature to filter geographic entities on the map by quintile.
Viewing data for ZIP codes, Census tracts or cities
Press the "DATA CONTROLS" button in the side panel and select your desired geography by clicking the corresponding button under "Geography." You can view detailed information about a specific place by clicking on it in the map.
Viewing neighborhood assets
The map contains a wide variety of neighborhood assets categorized by social infrastructure, commerce, schools, and public health. You can view these assets by clicking the POINTS & OVERLAYS button, selecting a category, and then clicking on the checkboxes to turn them on or off.
Providing feedback for a location or asset
To add feedback about a geographic entity or point feature, click that location on the map. A panel will open with a pre-populated form.
Saving and images
Press the camera icon on the right side of the map to capture an image of the map. You can also use your device's built-in screenshot functionality to capture an image of the tool.
Sharing a custom view
You can copy a link to your current Explorer view by pressing the "SHARE" button and selecting "Get a custom link".
